Feeding Long Island

There is an urgent need for improved access to food in communities across Long Island. Most of us are aware of the severity of the lack of good, nutritious foods in low-income areas, but exactly how bad is it? Data shows a sharp increase in Long Island’s hunger population in the last few years, with 1 in 4 people suffering from food insecurity. In other words, approximately 259,000 children, adults, and seniors living will go to sleep hungry every day.

Here at Compass Insurance, we want to shine a light on individuals in our local area unaware of when their next meal will come. For the next three months, we will be working alongside the Long Island Harvest Food Bank to achieve its ambitious mission of ending hunger in every community across Long Island.

Long Island Harvest Food Bank is a nonprofit that functions as the critical link between those with excess food and those who need it most. Volunteers and staff of this noble organization have made incredible strides to reduce hunger. Through food distribution programs and partnership collaborations, more than 130 million pounds of food have been distributed since its inception in 1992. With help from the community, this number can increase drastically.

Be a part of something great and see how you can contribute to our community’s most vulnerable neighbors. Together, we can make a difference, and we can make Long Island better!

When you recommend someone to us for a quote, we offer to donate $10 to organizations focused on raising food and money for food-insecure families in our community on your behalf. And yes, that is for EACH friend you send us. You do the math!
